Micro-pellets are spherical or quasi-spherical solid dosage forms with a diameter ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 mm. They can also be filled into capsules, compressed into tablets, or made into other preparations. Pellets are a multi-unit oral dosage form and usually a single dose is composed of tens to hundreds of pellets. They can be made into different types of pellets such as slow-release and enteric-coated ones.

To compared with granules, pellets have unique characteristics in appearance, preparation process, and application.

After the pellets reach the body, the contact area with body fluids is larger than that of tablets and other preparations. The pellets are widely distributed in the gastrointestinal tract and will not cause adverse reactions and local irritation due to excessive local component concentration.
